How to Use Pivot Analysis

The following picture shows the architecture of pivot table.

Filter fields allow you to apply a filter to the entire pivot table to display data for specific values. You can specify the filter criteria using the filter dropdown window which is invoked by clicking the filter button. To further filter the data displayed within the data area, you can apply filter criteria to the field values of column fields and row fields.

Data Cells are located in the data area of the pivot grid. Data cells display Cross Cells, Total Cells and Grand Total Cells. Cross cells display summary values which have been calculated for row and column fields.

Time Entries

Weekly/Monthly Time Report

A weekly/monthly time report on which projects/tasks you have worked, how many hours and the sum.

Monthly Time Report

A monthly time report on which projects/tasks you have worked, how many hours, how much they cost and the sum.

To get this report,

  1. drag the Week field to the Filter Header Area.

  2. drag the Client Cost field to the Filter Header Area.

Weekly/Monthly Time Report on Users

A weekly/monthly time report on which projects users have worked, how many hours, how much they cost and the sum.

To get this report,

  1. drag the Task field from the Column Header Area to the Filter Header Area.

  2. drag the User field from the Filter Header Area to the Column Header Area.

  3. use the filter button of Project field to get the project you interested in.

Weekly/Monthly Time Report on Projects

A weekly/monthly time report on which projects users have worked, how many hours, how much they cost and the sum.

To get this report,

  1. drag the Task field from the Column Header Area to the Filter Header Area.

  2. drag the User field from the Filter Header Area to the Column Header Area.

  3. use the filter button of Project field to get the project you interested in.

  4. adjust the order of the User field and the Project field.

 

Expense Entries

Weekly/Monthly Expense Report

A weekly/monthly expense report on which projects/categories your money have been invested to, how much money spent and the sum.

Quarterly/Monthly Expense Report

A quarterly/monthly expense report on which projects/categories your money have been invested to, how much money spent and the sum.

To get this report,

  1. drag the Quarter field from the Filter Header Area to the Row Header Area.

  2. drag the Week field to the Filter Header Area.

  3. to change the data to analyze, you can choose the Time Span of the expense entries, or specify the From and To field in toolbar.

  4. you can click the + expend button to get more detailed information, or click the - minus button to get summary information.

Every field header has a filter button, just click it, then you can get a filter dropdown window, where you apply a filter to the entire pivot table to display data for specific values. The following report just shows expenses about three projects, and filter out one project's information.
