Q. How to share mobile data with eReminder

Q. How to close eReminder?
A. In order to close the application please do one of the followings:

  1. Select the File, Exit menu item.
  2. Find eReminder icon in the system tray, right-click it and select Exit.
  3. Press Alt+F4 or click Close from the application's system button

Q. How to uninstall eReminder?
A. Please close the application (see "Q. How to close eReminder?" above) first. Then
open the Control Panel and select Add/Remove Programs applet. Locate the eReminder in the list of installed programs and select it. Then click the Add/Remove button to start removing the application.

Q. I have uninstalled eReminder, but it is still on my computer. How do I uninstall it completely?
A. You probably haven't closed the application before uninstalling. Please close the application (Refer to "Q. How to close eReminder?" above) first if it still running on your computer. Then manually remove the following folder and its contents: C:\Program Files\eReminder.
Note: The path of the folder depends on the path you installed eReminder in.

Q.How to resolve a problem in the installation/uninstallation progress?
A. When you install eReminder 2009 Mini (Professional, or Premier) to the Windows XP OS, it will popup some warning dialogs, for example: The 'Microsoft Agent 2.0' package is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running, The 'Microsoft Speech Control Panel' package is not compatible with the version of Windows you are running, Choose OK to continue the installation, the warnings do not affect the work of Microsoft Agent in your machine.
When you uninstall eReminder 2009 Mini ( Professional, or Premier), it will popup a warning dialog: Error 1721. This is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor, choose OK to continue the uninstallation. Although it will prompt: Fatal error during installation, in fact the uninstallation has finished.

Q. Why can't I register with the serial number of another version?
A. The serial number varies with versions. If you have bought a version different from the version installed in your computer, please uninstall the old one, and install the same version you bought.

Q. Why can't I register with the serial number after I purchased?
A. Your Serial Number will reach our register servers after about a 15-20 minute propagation period, and you can register this software then. Please wait some time before it works.

Q. How to get the version I have installed?
A. To get which version you have installed.

  1. Start eReminder,
  2. Right-click the floating tool bar, and select the option About..., or
  3. Click the Help menu, and select the option About,
  4. The About dialog will show you the version information.

Q. How to remove all appointments?
A. To remove all appointments.

  1. Start eReminder,
  2. Switch to the Calendar view in eReminder Center,
  3. Click View, Current View, All Appointments,
  4. Click the plus button of Recurrence: (None), Recurrence: (Daily), Recurrence: (Monthly), Recurrence: (Weekly), Recurrence: (Yearly) to expand all appointments,
  5. Press Ctrl + A to Select all items,
  6. Right-click, and select the Delete options, and select Yes to confirm the deletion.

Q. How to make the agent talk?
A. To make the agent talk.

  1. Start eReminder Center,
  2. Switch to Calendar view, click Today button in the main toolbar,
  3. Right-click the blank area in scheduler, select the New Appointment to create an appointment,
  4. In the New Appointment Entry/Edit Appointment Entry dialog, click Reminder button and then select the notification method: Popup an agent . Select the agent you prefer to.
  5. Check Reminder Before,
  6. Click Save and Close to exit,
  7. When the reminder time is due, the agent will come through, and read the notification content.

Q. How to restore your old database file?
A. Before you start to restore, please backup your current database file firstly.

  1. find the path where you have installed eReminder previously. If you have not changed the installation path, it is C:\Program Files\eTimeInc\eReminder by default.
  2. enter data directory, and copy the eReminderV2.mdb to a safe place.

There are two ways to restorer your old database file.
Way 1: copy the old database file manually.

  1. stop all eReminder programs.
  2. find the path where you have installed eReminder previously. If you have not changed the installation path, it is C:\Program Files\eTimeInc\eReminder by default.
  3. enter backup directory, find the database files with the name eReminderV2 YYYY_MM_DD.mdb, which are backup files of eReminderV2.mdb.
  4. select a latest backup file, and copy it to data directory.
  5. rename the backup file as eReminderV2.mdb.

Way 2: use eReminder Database Manager to restore your old database file.
Only eReminder Professional/Premier/Special edition has Database Manager component.

  1. right-click the floating toolbar, and select Configurations, switch to Database Backup. Remember the database backup place. The Backup To field has the backup location of your database.
  2. right-click the floating toolbar, and select Database Manager to start eReminder Database Manager.
  3. stop all other eReminder programs except Database Manager.
  4. click the Restore Database button, or select File, Restore Database from the menu.
  5. in the pop-up dialog, specify the source file (the location you selected when you backed eReminder database up.), then choose OK to restore.

After restore, you can start eReminder, and check whether the data is okay.

Q. How to access database in network?
A. To access database in network

  1. Share the folder of the database (C:\Program Files\eTimeInc\eReminder 200X\Data\eReminderV2.mdb by default) to the network, and get the full path of the database;
  2. Start eReminder,
  3. Right-click the floating toolbar, and select Configurations...
  4. Switch to Database view,
  5. Enter the full path of the database file in Database Path section.
  6. Right-click the floating toolbar, and select Exit.
  7. Restart eReminder.

Now you can see the appointments/tasks in the new database.

Q. Error (-5006 : 0x80004005) during installation

During installation on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, you may receive an error stating:
An error (-5006 : 0x80004005) has occurred while running the setup.
Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: eTimeInc (http://www.eTimeInc.com).
There are Report, Detail, and OK buttons.
Solutions:
This error message can be resolved by running setup from within the Add/Remove Programs utility in the Control Panel. To do this on Windows 2000, XP, or Server 2003, perform the following steps.

  1. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel. Now, open the Add or Remove Programs utility.

  2. On the left side of the Add or Remove Programs utility, click Add New Programs.

  3. Click the CD or Floppy button. When the wizard appears, click Next. After searching your Floppy and CD drives, a page will appear asking you for the program you wish to run. Click Browse and locate the eReminder setup program. Click Next and the installation will begin.

You should now be able to install eReminder on your computer.
