Time Log

All time logs entered are stored here. Any time logs created in timesheet entry tools are also displayed in this view.

In this view, you can view and edit any time entry, so please pay attention.

NOTE: Only time entries not submitted or rejected can be edited.

Time Log view provides multi-views to display time entries.

General Display the common information of time entries
Measurement Display the measurement information you collected in time tracking
Cost Display the cost information of each activity. To learn how to use measurement, please refer to How to use measurement.
Pivot Analysis Duration Pivot analysis produces multidimensional duration reports on time entries. For example, the weekly/monthly/quarterly/yearly report on which projects/tasks you have worked, how many hours and the sum.

How to use this view:

In the main tool bar, you can use the actions of Prior Span, Next Span to navigate different date range, and use Refresh action to refresh showing data. In the table part, you can select any item, and edit it by using actions in the popup menu.

Description

Urgent Is the task is urgent? This field is read-only.

There is a famous wisdom, to make use of your time more rational:

  • 30% of time should be spent in important and urgent things;
  • 60% of time should be spent in important and unurgent things;
  • 4% of time should be spent in unimportant and urgent things;
  • 6% of time should be spent in unimportant and unurgent things.

When make your own tasks, this wisdom may be a good suggestion.

Important Is the task is important? This field is read-only.
Project Project name. Use the dropdown list to select a different project.
Task Task name. Use the dropdown list to select a different task.
Billable Is this task charged to client?
Billed Has the task been billed to the client? This field is read-only.
Start Time Start time of the time entry.
End Time End time of the time entry.
Client Overtime Rate If required, select one of client overtime rate rules
Company Overtime Rate If required, select one of company overtime rate rules
Place Where the log happens.
Work Efficiency(%) Estimated work efficiency.
Measurement Items Measurement items. With these measurement item, you can collect some data in this time log.

For example, to review a document, you may want to get these measurement items: how many pages have been reviewed, how many bugs have been found, etc. All of these data can be collected in the time log. With these data, you can get a clear view of your productivity.

One task provides three measurement items to measure. If there are more than 3 items to measure, you need consider to choose the most important 3 items from them.

Note: once a user has used the measure item to track a task, you should prevent altering the measure item name, otherwise the previous created time logs may use the wrong item names, and the report or statistics may not correct.

Inheritance explanation:

  • Time Entries <= Tasks <= Preferences
  • Measurement Item Name and Hint of Time Entries inherit from Tasks.
  • Measurement Item Name and Hint of Tasks inherit from Preferences.
Summary With summary, you can write down some lines about your task progress, your creative ideas, etc.
Obstruction When you meet some problem, or you need some help, you can write down here. That's provide a way to let your team leader or project leader known of that. Of course, you can also use it to provide a way to remember your own difficulties.
